Retour - Part I Video

I’m so happy to share the video for “Retour - Part I” by my longtime friend and collaborator, Jason Pickersgill (aka Jason71). I first met Jason when I was 18 years old when we were both enrolled in a music reading class at Fullerton College. (Fun fact: Jeremy Wood was also in that class.) I don’t think we even spoke to each other during the class, but we would often see each other around at various shows in Orange County. I had just joined the Violet Burning around that time. It was soon after that, through friends and acquaintances, that our worlds collided. We went on to play together in the Violets and then later in the Lassie Foundation. There is pretty much nothing Jason can’t do extremely well. He makes everything seem so easy. Through all these years, Jason has supported me greatly with consistent friendship and incredible artistic contributions, both musical and visual. There are no words that can encapsulate my love and appreciation for him.

Metanoia

I’m very happy to the announce the upcoming release of my first solo album, Metanoia. The opening track, “Retour - Part I,” is streaming today on Bandcamp and Youtube and will soon be available on all other streaming platforms. The entire album will be released on August 23rd, 2024 by Clerestory AV on double-vinyl and cassette. Metanoia is comprised of two solo guitar performances and was recorded live in Toronto, Canada on October 3rd, 2021. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting here about how the album was made, musical inspirations, literary and philosophical influences, and the gear that was used during the performances.
